Introduction

Introduction

The old man, weighed by the past,
Forever seeking what once was.
Days gone by much too fast.

Pride-stricken, forcing his ways
Onto all that is under him,
Especially his children, always.

The eldest being so different,
The youngest always being so similar,
Difference causes an incident.

Pain, many see unknown.
Lost, tears have been unsown.
Tears, shed before he’s grown.

There’s no way to forget the scars,
And how they have come to be.
But the heart bears so many more.

I am the oldest.
I have been beaten.
I have not been broken.

  1. This entire blog is simply saturated with genuine emotion that makes all the pieces extremely difficult to read without wanting to break down and cry. Cry for you. Cry for the situation. Cry for the helplessness. It's deep and truly shows a fractured person caught between a rock and a hard place, stuck in an impossible situation that doesn't seem to have even a glimpse of silver lining, and unable to let anyone in on the real grit, because you're afraid to show the real you, afraid of what could happen, afraid to let people in. It's brilliant and powerful. Amazing job, Derek, and thank you.
